Parable of the sower The Parables are a section of the Matthews Evangelium in the Christian Bible. It is a common inspiration and focus for interpretation or themes during sermon. The Parables consist of tales that Jesus is said to have been a crowd of people following him and they explained Goods word and moral by using ordinary events. Following each Parable is an interpretation of it -made to state what the parable actually wants to explain to us. The first of these parables is the one about the sower. Overhead 1.’ Behold, a sower went forth to sow; 4: And when he sowed, some seeds fell by the way side, and the fowls came and devoured them up: 5: Some fell upon stony places, where they had not much earth: and forthwith they sprung up, because they had no deepness of earth: 6: And when the sun was up, they were scorched; and because they had no root, they withered away.
7: And some fell among thorns; and the thorns sprung up, and choked them: 8: But other fell into good ground, and brought forth fruit, some an hundredfold, some sixty fold, some thirty fold. 9: Who hath ears to hear, let him hear’ (Matt. 13). This parable is supposed to be a narrative for the reader to help interpret and understand the significance of faith, but as for all the parables it might be extremely heard for people today to understand the connection between the words and the actual meaning. Even with Jesus interpretation the parable might be misleading if you don’t know during what kind of circumstances it was written or the habits or customs of the time. Remember first that when Jesus lived being a farmer was much more common than nowadays.
The farmers went around and scattered their seeds by hand and now we do it all by machines. Here the seed represents the word of God. The different grounds are the humans / or the human souls which in contrast from the seed all have different initial position. What God says and his morals are equal to anyone, the seed is equally good. And it explains the difference between humans.
The parable teaches about the acceptance of the good tidings of the Evangelium (Gospel) by mankind. In it is narrated how men interpret the Word of God in different ways, and how this word acts differently on men. I think that the parable does not only try to explain one specific moral but can be brought to use in a numerous of occasions. For example it gives ONE description of the responsibility Christians have towards God and to live according to the Christian faith. Where to reach salvation the participation of the individual is necessary, and God gives the same opportunities to all humans and then we have to act from our own basis. The fact that all the different fields, even the unprivileged ones get equal seed planted symbolizes that God is aware of our different initial positions but he’s still willing to share his words to everyone, but it is up to every human being to either take in the words or choose to look past them and that it is the responsibility of every human to make the effort to understand and take in the Words.
Another perspective or interpretation might be that it speaks about not the seed in relation to the land but about the farmer as the human. How to sow. It teaches us to question if our actions are conscious. If we think about what we do (that would be where we sow, the consequences of what we do… and how our decision affects us. ) That we are given choices (that would be represented by the different types of fields and we are equipped with seed (which would be chances) and we have a change to organise and choose how to plant our seeds…
meaning how we want to interpret the Bible /God is up to every one of us.
